Molding Capabilities
GW Silicones Molding Capabilities Include:
Liquid Silicone Rubber Injection Molding (LSR):
Specializing in molding USP Class VI, restricted or unrestricted
silicone materials specified for use in FDA Class I, II and III
devices.
Thermoplastics & Liquid Silicone Rubber Two-Shot Molding:
With this process, silicone
components and rigid thermoplastic substrates are molded together in
one press to provide improved part design and performance and unit
cost savings generated through the ability to design without the
need for assembly. Multi Material or Two-Shot Silicone and
Thermoplastic molding offers the following advantages:
-
Cost
effective assemblies due to the elimination of adhesives and
post assembly operations
-
Increased part quality based on reduced part handling and less
possibility of contamination
-
Reduced validation cost by simplifying the process flow of the
molded component
-
Increased design flexibility allowing engineers to incorporate
unique material combinations into assemblies
-
Typical thermoplastic substrate materials include: PEEK
(unfilled), Polycarbonates, Nylons and Polyesters (unfilled and
glassed filled).
Insert Molding & Over Molding:
Consistent parts that are manufactured utilizing insert
molding and over molding techniques are a specialty for GW
Silicones. For applications where a Two-Shot method is not
practical based on part volumes or part geometry, traditional over
molding techniques can be used to achieve the same result.
With
our experience in both plastic and silicone injection molding, over
mold methods are very straight forward and we can guarantee a high
level of quality as well as efficient through put utilizing
automation for insert feeding and flashless molding techniques.
Liquid Silicone Micro
Molding –
GW Silicones utilizes electric silicone molding machines with
the
capability of molding very small shot sizes consistently. Micro
Molding of silicone is accomplished by using specific machine and
LSR pump technology developed for the silicone micro molding
industry. This guarantees the repeatability required in micro
molding applications. By utilizing micro mold technology we can
achieve very high precision molded detail and a shot-to-shot
repeatability.
